This took place today. I was in the bathroom, getting myself ready for the day and Hallie is running around the house. She passes the bathroom door and I spot my car keys in her hand.

Me: Hallie, you can't play with my keys. They are very imprtant and we cannot lose them.

Hallie: But Moooommm, I will be very, very careful. I promise I wont lose them.

Me: I'm sorry. You are going to have to find something else to play with. Bring me the keys.

No response. Silence...

Not five minutes pass and I say: Hallie, I really need the keys.

Hallie: Um, Mom... I promise I didn't lose them, I just can't remember where I put them.

Me: Ahhhhh....
